DEADLINE FOR THE REPEATERS

"THE VISVESVARAYA TECHNOLOGICAL UNIVERSITY IS FACING THE PROBLEM WITH THE REPEATERS SO THEY ARE BRINGING A NEW RULE FOR ALL THOSE REPEATERS TO COMPLETE THEIR ENGINEER COURSES WITHIN THE TIME"

THE Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU) is facing a peculiar problem. Its engineering students are taking ‘ages’ to complete the four-year course, forcing it to fix a deadline of 10 years. If a student doesn’t complete the course within this period, he will not get another chance to write his exams. VTU registrar K V A Balaji said, “By the time a students comes out of an engineering college after four years, a lot of things would have changed. Imagine the plight of those who do not complete it even after 10 years.” He said following several requests from students, the university has decided to set a deadline for completing the engineering course. New rules demand that a student complete the course within 10 years. He said, “As per the executive council decision, students who have sought admission in 2002 and are eligible for admission to fifth semester during 2010-11 should be allowed to complete the course within 10 years.” As per the amendments approved in the council, those admitted under lateral entry scheme (for diploma courses) up to 2007-08, the maximum duration for the completion of the course is eight years. For students who have sought admission during or after 2008-09 under lateral entry scheme, the maximum duration for completion of the course is six years.
