Kamalaksh Achar, president, Karnataka Karavali Nrithya Kala Parishath, an association of artistes from the coastal belt, said, “As regards the Vidwath final year textbook, the board had constituted a textbook committee and the material was almost ready. However, the person in charge of compiling the material died, following which, there has been no initiative on the part of the board to complete the unfinished work.” Achar feels that the government may be pandering to the demands of the private lobby.
About 2,000 students take the junior level exam, 1,000 take the senior level exam and about 100 take the Vidwath first year exam every year in the state. For the vidwath second year, the number of students taking the exam is restricted to 50. Hence, the government’s apathy in spending money on textbooks, feels Achar.
