WEEKS AGO, Australia's super coach Ric Charlesworth was furious with the Commonwealth Games organisers for scheduling matches at midday in Delhi. The heat he reckoned was just not conducive for players to engage in a game of hockey.
But no one paid heed to his complaints and the world champions have ended up playing most of their games when the sun is at its blazing best. Charlesworth has now changed his mind and feels the heat could actually work to his team's advantage when they take on India in the final at the Major Dhyanchand National Stadium at 11:30 in the morning
"India will be a lot more refreshed. They haven't had to get over the effects of playing in the middle of the day as it takes a lot out of players," Heat or no heat, India have an extremely arduous task ahead of them if they are to get within sniffing distance of the Aussies who have triumphed in the previous three editions of the Commonwealth Games.
COMMENDABLE SPIRIT
"Our boys have shown commendable fighting spirit, so they will not be worried about the reputation that Australia have. They will do everything to overcome them," said Jose Brasa, India's chief coach.
He was confident the vocal support that his team will receive from the spectators will go a long way in determining the result of the match. Lets Wish Indian hockey team to win the gold medal in commom wealth games.
"Chak de India"
