- The Pre-University Board has some good news for SSLC students - from the next academic year, they won’t have to waste time and money buying application forms from different colleges. Following in the footsteps of Bangalore University, the board is planning to centralise admission into colleges under it across Karnataka.
- “Selected colleges will be designated as nodal centres and will be allowed to sell application forms. A student can submit one application form with a list of preferred colleges and subject combinations. This system will benefit both the students and the colleges by saving time and money,” said a source in the PU Board.
- “Initially, the system will be implemented in Bangalore, Hubli, Mangalore, Dharwad and Belgaum. Around one lakh students apply for PU seats every year in Bangalore alone,” the source said. Director of PU Board S Shankaranarayana, however, said, “The system is only in the planning stage. We are in discussion with different parties.” Sources also said the government is planning to set up a PU examination board in line with the SSLC examination board, which will be solely responsible for PU exams and related matters.
